Navigating Spiritual Awakening and the Disturbed Kundalini Shakti

Spiritual awakening is a powerful and often life-changing journey. It’s a time when we might experience shifts in how we see the world, heightened energy, and, at times, intense physical sensations. A key force in this process is the awakening of Kundalini Shakti—an energy believed to lie dormant at the base of the spine. When this energy is awakened, it moves through our body’s energy channels, aiming to rise through the chakras and lead us toward spiritual enlightenment.

Yet, the path of Kundalini awakening isn’t always smooth. In fact, it can be incredibly overwhelming.

What is Disturbed Kundalini Shakti?

In a typical awakening, Kundalini Shakti is felt as warmth, vibrations, or pressure moving throughout the body. When this energy flows smoothly, it brings clarity, vitality, and profound spiritual insights. However, if it becomes blocked or disturbed, it can lead to physical discomfort, emotional upheaval, and mental challenges.

I’ve personally experienced this. My Kundalini awakening was abrupt and chaotic, stirring up unresolved emotions and deep-rooted issues. The energy mainly concentrated around my heart chakra, creating a rollercoaster of intense emotions, sleepless nights, anxiety, and confusion about my life. At times, I genuinely questioned my sanity.

At its peak, it felt like a fiery snake of energy, mostly stuck in my heart chakra, trying to push its way out. The sensation was so intense I could feel the energy pressing through the centre of my chest—sometimes even through my nipples. I was in a lot of pain, both emotionally and physically, for over six months.

Looking back, I realised meditation could have helped restore balance to my system. But back then, my mind was too restless, the weight of the past was overwhelming, and my ego was in overdrive. I couldn’t sit still long enough to meditate. Thankfully, I found an alternative—music. It became my salvation. When I felt completely lost, music grounded me. When my inner world was in turmoil, music helped me find moments of peace.

Sound Healing

We are beings of vibration. Every emotion, thought, and sensation has its frequency. Disruptions in our energy field can throw off this balance, affecting our overall well-being. This is where sound acts as a natural healer. Music, shamanic drumming, and mantra singing can help balance our energy and bring comfort. Sound, whether it’s the steady beat of a drum or the gentle repetition of a mantra, can help our body heal, grow, and connect with the divine energy within.

Shamanic drumming, for instance, uses repetitive, grounding rhythms that connect with the body’s primal rhythms. This drumming soothes the nervous system and helps to anchor chaotic energy. Mantra singing is another powerful tool for energetic alignment. Repeating sacred sounds harmonizes the body’s natural frequencies, helping to clear blockages and restore calm.

My Experience With Sound Healing (Valon Kadet)

During the early stages of my Kundalini awakening, the energy in my heart chakra felt like a storm—caught between waves of fear, love, and overwhelming intensity. That’s when I discovered the power of sound healing.

A shamanic healer introduced me to a sound practitioner offering deep relaxation through instruments like gongs and singing bowls. These sessions, provided by Valon Kädet, helped calm my turbulent energy. The vibrations from these tools reached deep into my heart chakra, soothing the chaotic forces. It was as if the energy finally found its rhythm, transforming my fear into love.

Mantra Singing During the Dark Night of the Soul (Sydan Laulaa)

Later in my journey, I experienced what many call the dark night of the soul—a period of deep emotional pain, doubt, and confusion. My ego fought fiercely during this time, clinging to fear and uncertainty. I felt drained, mentally scattered, and disconnected from everything familiar.

It was during this period that I met Jarno, a mantra singer from Sydän Laulaa. His mantras, sung in English, Finnish, and Sanskrit, helped quiet my mind. The repetitive nature of these sacred sounds allowed my thoughts to fade into stillness. In this stillness, I learned to embrace the darkness as part of my spiritual growth rather than something to fear.

Through mantra singing, I realized that music serves as a bridge to the higher self. It quiets the ego and connects us to the deeper truths where we are more than just our pain and fears.

Navigating a Kundalini awakening can be overwhelming, particularly when the energy feels disturbed. But sound healing—whether through music, drumming, or mantra singing—can be a powerful ally. These practices help balance the energy flow, calm the mind, and offer support during the spiritual journey.
